Take back the Galaxy!

By now we have all heard about how the Chinese are going to colonise
the Moon starting in 2020. My spies also tell me about how The Great
Satan^w^wUnited States is planning to launch a similar colonisation
program aimed at Mars, real soon now. Obviously, it is only a matter
of time before the Galaxy falls at the hands of our far-sighted and
pioneering human explorers.

If history can be a guide to the future, then it is certain we will
see the colonial predilictions of our favorite super-powers following
a very familiar pattern. Therefore, after the near extinction and
mass subjugation of all alien organisms, human settlements across the
Milky Way will inevitably degenerate into a cultural and political
morass not entirely unlike what we see on Earth today.

Opression, intolerance, greed, pollution, immorality, lawlessness,
stupidity, spam, and Internet chatroom pedophilia will go on (and on)
unchecked, but of course on a vast interstellar scale difficult to
imagine today.

In the same way that it is inherently risky to talke one's dog for an
evening walk in Central Park, so too will we find it unacceptably
dangerous to flit in our shuttles from station-to-planet (and back),
or to take casual weekend jaunts through the constellations in our
small, nuclear powered runabouts. Expect piracy to flourish. In
some, perhaps even many, remote backwaters, many of our brothers,
sisters, and friends will -- without doubt -- languish in the most
worrysome of conditions, their spirits forever ground under the
boot-heel of interstellar criminals, planetary despots, and retrograde
degenerates.

For this and many otherwise excellent reasons, I have decided that
_now_ is the time to start a fresh campaign to Take Back the Galaxy!

Yes! Take Back The Galaxy now before it is too late!

I would call upon everyone to join forces and organise to end this
future scourage once and for all, but there is, it seems, one minor
snag. Would-be galactic despots and aspiring space-suited
nee'r-do-wells are capable of similar foresight. We can be sure that
their plans will take into account the threat of an organised
grassroots movement to Take Back the Galaxy!

Consequently, we must organise without organising; for to organise is
to court detection, sanction, and disaster from such
wannabe-undesireables as may exist today. So, I recommend this: that
each and every concerned individual _must_ form a Group of One;
carefully, quietly, and without telling a single other soul. Alone,
and in secret, you must plot and plan how you will go about Taking
Back the Galaxy! from the future threat before us all.

To some, this may seem a bit premature. To others, the idea may
strike the intellect as silly, frivolous, and worst of all, grandiose.
But it is not, and it is not to those sceptics that I write. I seek
only to reach the few who can see that this campaign to Take Back the
Galaxy! is the only sensible precaution against the inevitable ravage
of time and the lamentable human condition.

So think ahead and plan (but only to yourself). The pitiless march of
stellar events will, of their own eventual accord, inform you of the
need to act; and so you _must_ be ready for that day.

Remember: Think and plan by and for yourself. It is the only
reasonable way to

Take Back the Galaxy!

Sincerely,

Steve Thompson
