Out of curiousity though, does anyone know what sort of medical emergency would have to be happening for a late-term abortion, presumably partial birth, to be needed, rather than some sort of cesarian procedure where the child may, or may not, survive?
A hypercephlic baby would is not viable, and there for is not a may or may not survive child. Cesarians, as you might know, is a very invasive procdedure compared to the so-called 'partial birth'. For a woman that is having comlicplications above and beyond having a non-viable fetus would have a much high risk with a ceasrean above and beyond the much longer recovery of having her stomach cut open.
