Not true. The International Red Cross was founded by Henri Dunant, who was not an Atheist, but an Evangelic Christian. Apart from founding the Red Cross, he also did important work for the Young Men's Christian Association, among other things. > Who were Swiss, and the Red Cross is nothing to do with Christianity - > it's the reverse of the Swiss flag. That is a conjecture which lacks historical backup. In the minutes of the October 1863 Comference, where the emblem of the Red Cross was chosen, no reasons for that particular choice have been recorded. Also, no contemporary documents exist which shed any light on the reason for this choice. Regarding the symbolism of the Swiss flag: the red color symbolises the blood of soldiers shed during battles which took place in the 13th century in (and around) the canton Schwyz, and the cross represents the belief in Jesus Christ. The Swiss flag originates from that of the Swiss canton Schwyz, which had a red background and a small white cross in the upper right corner. isi
