I have found that many merchants have the idea that offering a 50 plus discount is somewhat of a gift to seniors and lessens the bottom line profit. In the US and Canada the seniors demographic includes over 66 million persons. Many prefer to shop with merchants who are "seniors friendly" and recognize the fact that while many of us have accumulated the means to shop, at the same time we take the time to be selective. Offering a discount to seniors is a way of showing respect for the persons who are 50 plus, and concern that many are on a fixed income. It becomes obvious that many merchants, once they have adopted a more seniors friendly attitude, find they have more paying customers to deal with and suddenly they see the logic of offering a small seniors discount. www.seniorsadvisory.com
