Is it really necessary?

Any kind of war would only mean one thing to those who are directly 
involved: pain. So it looks to me either mankind has some sorts of love 
affair with pain or simply being manipulated by some evil and organized 
small group of people who get rich out of wars.

In either case, humanity is doomed. Or is it?
