Just nitpicking:
As far as I know, the Hereros started a long-planned assault on
the Germans 1904 which broke formerly signed contracts. The irony
is that the peace between the former enemies and now allied Nama
& Hereros was based on a arranged meeting 1892 under German
negotiation.
The "baggage" was the excessive harsh reaction after driving the
defeated Hereros in the waterless Omaheke desert where they must
die. The other Hereros which were not in the battle were imprisoned
and ousted.
None of the Ovambo, the Himba, the Damara or the Rehobother Baster
joined the uprising (and were later persecuted, by the way).

I know that the reason "He started it !" has an attitude of
children in the sandbox, but I don't like it if an attackers
attempt fail and as reaction he is comparing his situation
with other, but *innocent* victims 40 years later.
