I mean a speculator.  Someone who hoards grain so that he will
make a profit later when he sells it when the price has gone
up.  If he hoards it so long that the price rises beyond that
which the poor can afford, an entitlement failure famine occurs.
Poor people die, while the relatively wealthy step over them.
Many folks like to pretend that it was the exclusively the
colonails doing the starving and the Brits doing the stepping
but we know better don't we?

True, but it's hard to believe the speculators would have been
so careless of their hoard.

Similar exploitation occurred in Ireland.  The wealthy Irish
bought up the land of the poor who were forced to flee.
