Actually there were more convicts sent to America than were ever sent to
Australia.  It was because the Americans rightfully won the War of
Independence that the British had to find somewhere to sent their convicts.
Most of the convicts sent to America and Australia had committed minor
crimes such as stealing bread because they were starving.

Could anyone please tell me how to cross-post more than one newsgroup?  I
have seen it done on a number of occasions.
