There are protests of one type or another in USA almost every
weekend. They protest the war, WTO, jobs, economy, police etc.
The police insist on law and order at the meetings. At times,
disorderly protesters contend with tear gas, assorted
projectiles, beatings and jailing.

Nothing new. It happens in the democracy of the USA. It happens
in the democracy of Zimbabwe.
