Well, this if so much damn fun responding to myself, but as no one wants to challenge any statement made by me, they must all be true, and some people must be too ashamed to admit it. That's OK. I imagine most of the blacks that read this board are not the kind of people that I'm railing against. Anyway, I did a little checking and found some interesting links about blacks and tipping, and it turns out that I am correct. I really did not know that this was a real issue nationwide, but it is, albeit a little issue. http://www.boldaz.com/random/tipping.htm written by a black man http://www.newsobserver.com/saunders/story/2714541p-2517189c.html This author of this article makes a very valid point that you can give bad service expecting a non or bad tip. I tried very hard to give everyone equal service, often with blacks just so they would not have any excuse. Didn't help much. (On a side note, what is it with blacks not just answering the damn door, but instead yelling in a deep voice, "WHO IS IT!!!???" Again, it seemed to happen at nearly every black address. I often tried to have a little fun and say "your pizza is here" in a very soft voice, not answering them at all, or my favorite, "YO PISSA'S HERE" in a loud mock black voice. You would think that third option would get me into trouble, but more often than not, I would catch blacks laughing at it, and for that tiny little moment in time we had a speck of understanding through humor. I still make my friends laugh at my black ghetto voice even though I'm way, way out of touch with the current lingo, I don't have that kind of time. I know it's not PC, but I don't think there is anything that can't be made fun of, including a lot of white behavior, or laughing at myself.) http://journalscape.com/derekjames/2003-07-18-09:26 The "read post comments" http://journalscape.com/derekjames/2003-07-18-09:26# is what I found interesting, and not for all the vile racist crap, but for the sensible observations. That is why I could never be a waiter. At least with pizza delivery, the let down is momentary, but as a server, you have to spend a good part of an hour or so waiting on these people, they run up a $150 tab, they ask for free shit, you work your butt off to be nice, and they stiff you with a smile (if you are lucky). That would ruin my night, so thankfully I don't put myself through that. "Why should I tip you, that's yo job." I've heard that. People may wonder why I have started to post here. I'll tell you. I have a bone to pick with a few groups including radical feminists, and some blacks, anyone really who likes to pick on white men and blame them for all of their problems while not putting any of the blame on themselves. Stop crying for reparations, it will never happen, and why should I pay for something that no one in my family history had anything to do with? Take responsibility, clean up your own house. Tipping is just one small aspect of overall black culture that keeps us divided, one small thing among many, and there are many powerful forces on BOTH sides that enjoy the status quo. People who do it out of pure hate, people with a profit motive, etc. So what are you prepared to do to end racial tensions in this country, or are we stuck with it forever? >I remember when I was 20 and started working at Dominos' Pizza. I was >young and idealistic. I leaned liberal on many social issues and >hated the idea of discrimination. I still do on some level. > >But then I started to come into contact with more and more blacks >during my working day delivering pizza. We had a large area covering >at least 15,000 households and had a significant percentage of blacks >that ordered regularly. > >What I am about to say is true, I am not exaggerating or fabricating >anything. These are my own observations. > >The behavior of the blacks that lived in subsidized housing was >atrocious. Most, not all, but the overwhelming majority did not >smile, did not say hello or thank you, and did not tip. I estimated >that blacks stiffed around 85-90% of the time, while you could flip >those numbers around for all other races. They clearly had no respect >at all for where they lived. Two otherwise nice apartment complexes >where turned into slums when they went section 8, going from mostly >white to at least 50% black. Suddenly, red cool aid stains where >everywhere, carpets ripped all the time, broken glass in the parking >lot and main doors had to be replaced often. Once a quiet place now >had many little black kids running around, usually bothering me for >free pizza, and often talking to me in a very disrespectful tone. >This rarely if ever happened at non section 8 apt. complexes. > >I'm not sure what bothered me more, the fact that they did not tip, or >the complete lack of any courtesy. No soft skills at all. > >But it did not end there. Blacks in nice neighborhoods still tipped >far, far less than their white neighbors. I have no explanation for >why. > >Other black behavior included writing many more bad checks per capita, >more complaints, and more scams for free pizza. Again, this is not >exaggeration. After 10 years of this, I knew what was going on. On >one particular trip, a black young woman was looking in her purse for >a tip when her young black male friend said "hey, don't tip the man". >The man? You've got to be kidding me. > >Despite this, I made a surprisingly decent living. Thankfully, >though, I went back to school and started my own business. But I >still work part time delivering pizza for a mom and pop outfit in a >different neighborhood, a white working class neighborhood. I at >least get some sort of tip around 97% of the time. It's great. The >few blacks that live in this neighborhood still tip far less, but I >see a black customer only around 1 or 2 times a month, so their bad >tipping habits don't affect me anymore. > >------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > >Black culture, at least the ghetto culture perplexes me. It's so self >perpetuating. > >Why do blacks have so many illegitimate children? What are black >leaders doing about this? Why am I labeled a racist when I ask these >questions? > > >Although not all rap is bad, so much of it glorifies a dead end >lifestyle. Blacks will never get out of the ghetto believing this >crap. I feel bad for hard working young black men and women who have >been brainwashed into believing you have to act black to be true to >your roots. What the hell does that mean? > >And do inner city blacks really value education? What about the fact >that blacks across all economic spectrums do poorer than other races >in school? How is it that Asians do so much better? Could it be that >it is a core belief in hard word that is part of the Asian culture >that lead to their success? > >Other than immigrants, I don't know of any other race that has an >accent that is almost universal across the country. It seems the goal >of some blacks is to create an sub-English like language to confuse >non blacks. Fine, go ahead and talk like that if it's really that >important to make whites feel confused and uncomfortable, we'll see >who gets the last laugh. > >It's sad how real life interactions changed me from someone who >believed blacks were treated very unfairly into someone who thinks >that ghetto blacks are too stupid to realize that their culture is >their worst enemy, a view that gets me branded (fairly or unfairly) a >racist by most people. > >So I go through life disliking black rap culture intensely, and not >too trusting of blacks as a group, a fact that I keep secret from the >blacks that I have gotten to know and like. And that brings up an >interesting point. Despite my own personal prejudice against aspects >of the black culture, I still judge individuals individually, based on >who they are and how they treat me, not their race, because I know >that not ALL blacks are like the scum that I delivered to, or buy into >all the bull shit that has invaded black culture in the last 30 years. > >Anyone who doesn't believe that blacks are their own worst enemy only >has to look at black on black violence, it's almost amusing. > >Check out this link >http://www.otisfodder.com/365days/archive/228.html >for an interesting recording about black speech patterns. This page >is part of a larger collection of interesting, funny, or bizarre audio >recordings. I wrote the second reaction to correct the incorrect >observations of the first reaction. > > >What I want to see is some sort of national admission by black leaders >that say that blacks have more than just society and history to blame >for their current condition, but that some of their core values are >not what they should be. Their goal should be to stop the ghetto >cycles by vastly curtailing teen pregnancy and birth rates, and >pushing education and hard work. Learn to speak English first, >ebonics second. > >You don't have to give up your heritage. Working hard and succeeding >in America is not 'selling out to the white man'. > >Finally, if anyone thinks that racism has not done a 180 turn is >deluding themselves. Now it's OK to say how evil and bad the white >man is, and any speech that is anti any other race is vilified or >censored. > >I want to live in a society that is color blind, but if blacks insist >on trying to completely cut themselves off from white culture, and >denying that they have any culpability for their own problems, there >will never be an end to racism.
