my name is mccalla hill, i'm a graduate student at the university of montevallo in montevallo, alabama. and i've got an art project in which the assignment is to react to an article called "intention and artifice." within this article susan sontag is quoted as saying photography is necessary to "stimulate buying and anesthesize the injuries of race, class, and gender" within our captalist society. in response to this i would like to create a digital media collage that critiques the "Girls Gone Wild" phenomena within our society. this phenomena speaks specifically to her quote as it exploits women's bodies while convincing them through the illusion of potential fame, the american panacea for the injuries of race, class, and gender, that they are working the system rather than being worked by the system. part of the requirement of the project is that i get images from strangers via the web. so if anyone has any images they think critique the GGW phenomena or are images of women (yourself included) pictured in a way that shows intention by the pictured woman or depicts a woman pictured in a way she would like herself reflected or is pictured for herself rather than for viewers or capitalist society, i'd love it if you could email me some images at [EMAIL PROTECTED]
