What are > other opinions? HI everyone im new to this disscusion board so ill start off with introducing myself. Im 19 male living in Canada. My parents and relatives are mostly muslim. I was brought up in a fairly religous family my dad was the one forcing me and my siblings to attend the mosque every friday night. i remember hearing over and over again that if u strayed from the path of god that you would go to hell and all that crap. as time went on i began to question the teachings and i realised how contradictory this religion was. when i was 14 my parents got divorced and my brother and sister and i eneded up with my mom who was more liberal when it came to religion. for example she never wore a head scarf like your supposed to in the muslim religion. this situation gave me the chance to expand my knowledge on other religions. still i found that other religions were just as contradictory. finaly i decided to leave religion behind all together and i started to believe i was agnostic. for 6 years i believed i was agnostic until the idea of a supreme being controling my life started to feel really silly. so here i am today; a proud atheist! most of the people in my life know that i am atheist. but there are still people who i choose not to tell because i just dont want to hear their nonsense. I feel like im a rare case since i havent met any atheists who used to be muslim and grew up in a muslim family. by posting here i hope to get a reply from someone who has had the same experience as me.
