>Dear Metaperson, The best answers are always the simplest answers. Without having read any of the previous replies, there are those that say that life understood is life lived. However, my recent discovery was simply, that life will only ever start to make sense once you stop looking for meaning in it. There is no plateau of understanding that one reaches and then is afforded some grand view of the scheme of things. We are as innocent shortly after birth as we are before death. Having said that, it's the small little details that I've been noticing more and more lately that bring me joy. I too have no clue as to what I want to do with my life- or how i will contribute to society. Recall that it is not the destination but the journey, not the end but the means. As corny as it sounds, stop and smell the roses. Make eye contact with strangers, get to know a street person by name, hold doors for older ladies and older men, learn to tell stories well and follow through on your promises. These are all the things that when consciously practised, will become second nature, and hopfully provide as much meaning for you as they are starting to for me. To the pessimists I say nay, life lived is life understood.
