Our Finnigan filaments sometimes have this problem. Maybe the tension on the filament before welding is not correct. We have had very good luck with Scientific Instrument Services rebuilt filaments over the years. Don't know the last time I actually purchased a new one from Finnigan. They also have excellent technical support. Maybe they could help if you call.. James L.
