Look at Carter and > LBJ. President Carter had high ideals and good intentions but LBJ with his > back room deals and associates that committed suicide by shooting themselves > in the back 12 time with a single shot rifle and stealing more log chain > than they could swim with got results. Most people are ignorant of carter's accomplishments as the media did not, and does not, brainwash them to it. Note that Carter and Ted Turner were the key elements in the demise of Communism. Carter had the balls to cancel the Olympics which Russia planned to use to con the world, and Carter began to create the idea that Russia was the "Evil Empire" As Russia could not show off their Olympics to the world, and wanted to recap some of their investment in facilities and promotion, Ted Turner made a deal with them to hold and televise the "Freedom Games" in exchange for showing CNN in Russia. After the Russian people begin to see real images of America and the world, it opened their eyes, and they began to want freedom. Carter also had the Middle East very near peace, and could have pulled it off, but the process was stalled by Reagan and Clinton, and shattered when Bush crawled into bed with Sharon, immediately after he became president. Carter also recognized the energy/pollution problem, and was trying to set America on the road to energy conservation, but again his efforts have been derailed, and future generations will pay the price. Cater also made a deal with North Korea to end their nuclear weapon program, and this has also been derailed. The bottom line is, that Carter gained the world's trust, and respect for America, Reagan expanded a little on it, Clinton lost a little of it, and Bush blew the whole wad. -- Tom Potter http://tompotter.us
