Re: Build my own fiber laser

Check out the back editions of SPIE journals for different designs.  For 
a more formal and theoretical treatment see France's Optical Fibre 
Lasers and Amplifiers.  You will need a splicer and know how to splice 
fiber then building a laser is somewhat easy.  You don't want 
connectorized components or bad splices in the system because of the 
backreflections.
