Nanotubes as Tiny Bar-Magnets



Here's an article about graphitic carbon being turned magnetic:

Apparently, proton-irradiation can cause this.

Imagine nanotubes or buckyballs as tiny magnets -- think of the possibilities.
Could it mean a new generation of magneto-rheological fluids?
