I also have a Whirlpool set.  Washer has been absolutely care-free since 1995. 
Dryer blew a fuse twice, which is a minor repair, under $50 each time, and has
continued to work great since.  I "want" a new set, only because it is fun to
get something nice, shiny, and new.  However, my old set does just fine.
