A scientist in Italy has invented a hand-held device that can be used to
detect a tumour simply by swiping it over a patient's body. In tests at a
Milan hospital, the probe successfully detected 93 per cent of prostate
tumours in patients. The patients did not even have to remove their clothes.
In another trial, the device, which works by producing microwaves varying in
frequency, detected breast cancer in 66 per cent of cases
