Not at all. I was responding to what sounded like you responding badly to
some of the things doctors and nurses say like 'there there I know it's
hard' or even worse 'I know how you feel'.
  All I meant was that sometimes it's better to say nothing than use the
same tired old phrases we always do but maybe just the fact that someone is
there is all that matters.
 As a nurse I am frequently lost for words in these situations. We all feel
helpless at times.
