I don't know. How can I get them to identify themselves?

I have never installed an MS "Global" IME on a Japanese Windows system.
Japanese Windows 95, 98, NT4, 2000, XP, and others have the real Japanese
IME built-in. I have occasionally installed IME upgrades (such as
installing IME 2000 on a Windows 98 system, since IME 2000 came with Office
2000). But these are all real IMEs, not a "Global" one.

I seem to recall it being possible to install a "Global" IME for Korean or
Chinese onto a Japanese Windows 95, 98, or NT4 system. I never tried it
though. Besides, if they behaved anything like the way the Japanese
"Global" IME did on US Windows 95 or 98 or NT4, then they'd break my
keyboard drivers. Microsoft's word "Global" meant what the rest of us call
"US", working only with a US keyboard layout.

By the way, even though IME 2000 comes with Office 2000, when Office 2000 is
installed on a Windows XP system it knows not to try to downgrade the IME.
It didn't even display any option to downgrade, whereas on a Windows 98
system it does offer to upgrade. Also, since the one on the right has an
icon for 「ツール」 on the right, I don't think it's IME 2000.
