I had to check back and closely >examine ueshiba's post to see what could have made Chris think (or to say he >thought) that he had offended ueshiba. Pretty hard to detect. Well, I don't know if I actually offended him or not. But I thought he seemed a little upset that I was making these generalizations about Japanese with my imperfect knowledge of the language. All I meant to say was that in my experience, "kakegoe" are not that long. I don't think I'm the only one with this opinion, because when I was asking the people in my office about "yattokomakase", several of them commented that it was "nagai" or "nagasugiru" (even without the "no yoiyamakase" on the end). -Chris
