I stopped by a store called User's Side in NYC once to check out a new 
Japanese PDA (they have a lot of Japanese oriented 
electronics/computers).  I see their website has something about cell 
phone rentals on the front page:

So that might be a good place to call/visit and ask as well.  (btw, 
sorry if there is a duplicate of this message.  mozilla died on me ^^)
