For add on image processor boxes try IPD's Netsight at www.goipd.com,
other types included Matrox's 4sightII at
http://www.matrox.com/imaging/products/4sight2/home.cfm
and Cognex's Insight Vision 2000/3000
http://www.cognex.com/products/InSight/default.asp

These are probably the most popular stand-alone processors out there
and have terrific application software as well.
