Coral Reporduction Question

I overheard a conversation at an aquarium recently about how coral
reproduce.  One person stated that thousands of coral in a habitat all
produce eggs at the same time.  The thousands of eggs all at once help a few
survive predators.

Does anyone know how the coral coordinate this activity?
