Lunar crater origin



It is generally accepted that the lunar craters are formed from meteroic imnpacts.

Consider Crater Ptolemaeus - a large crater in the near middle of the lunar image viewable from the earth.

There is one small problem - the meteorite which created this crater would have also have had to pass through the earth prior to impact on the moon.

Any views on this problem ?
