Hello, I'm thinking of purchasing a new home near Phoenix, AZ (first time homebuyer) and about 1/2 mile to the north they're building a small wastewater treatment facility. I'm not knowledgable in the area of wastewater treatment, so forgive these questions if they seem a little basic: 1) Is there any difference between "wastewater treatment" and "sewage treatment"? Sales agent says there is but she doesn't know what that difference is. Will raw sewage be pumped into this station? 2) Should I be concerned about smell from 1/2 mile away? My house will typically be parallel to the plant and not upwind or downwind during the prevailing wind. Does the technology they use now (this is supposed to be a "state-of-the-art" facility) reduce the chance of odor? 3) Is this going to affect my resale value? 4) Should I even be concerned that this plant is going in so close to my home? Agent says these things are in most new tracts now, but I always take what the agent says with a large grain of salt. 5) Is it possible drinking water will come from this plant? My inclination would be no, since current homes exist and have water service already (this plant is under construction). I've heard about using reclaimed sewage as drinking water. Supposedly pretty clean, but what a mental hurdle.. ;-) Thanks! Scott
