Digibox antenna

 Probably the wrong group , if so sorry.
 We have a Bush digibox set up with an aerial in the loft, (the aerial is in
the loft not the digibox)we can get BBC 1~4 STV C4 5 CBBC CBeeBies e.t.c.
however we can't get UK history or MTV .  Is there something I can do to the
antenna in the loft space to make it receive a stronger/better signal (tin
foil laid in a plane below the aerial or something) ?  Tried a signal
booster this had a small effect, but not enough to warrant using merely the
booster and not doing something to/with the aerial .
  Tried with my mums digibox could receive the five "normal" channels plus
CBBC e.t.c. so went and bought one ourselves only on setting this up did I
realize we weren't getting UK history MTV e.t.c.
  No access to the roof (roof would be problematical anyway as this is a
council house) so aerial has to be in the loft .To much off a skinflint to
get "proper" aerial riggers in .
