:-(  I wish I'd found out about that when I was googling for info before
purchasing the TV.

Is the known problem also clamp streaking, or a different problem?

I'm wondering, since clamp streaking is something to do with the timing of
sync pulses (if I've understood correctly), whether one of those circuits
that removes copy-protection by removing the sync pulses and then
regenerating a "cleaned-up" version of them would fix the problem?
