Hello, I have a Pioneer DV-565 DVD player (multi-region) and a Panasonic TX24PS1 television. I get an annoying pattern on the screen, which is worse on some DVDs than others. Region 1 (ie. NTSC) discs seem to be worst affected. Disc 2 of "Finding Nemo" is almost unwatchable because of it. It takes the form of dark horizontal bands that stretch right across the picture, most visible on light pictures (eg. bright sky). They flicker seemingly at random, even when the video is paused. If I switch the DVD player's output from RGB to composite, then the interference disappears. (Obviously the picture is not as good as RGB, so that's not an ideal solution.) I also notice that the picture shifts to the left about an inch when composite video output is selected (does this indicate that the composite output is out of sync with the RGB output?). Is this "clamp streaking"? Is it a fault of the DVD player or the TV? Can anything be done about it? There's also a nasty moire pattern at the left/right edges, particularly when displaying NTSC resolutions, or when zoomed in to a letterboxed signal, but one problem at a time, eh... Thanks in advance, -- Rob.
