If it smells like baking epoxy, it probably is!
You may be smelling volatile fractions of the plastics
or curing agents used in the monitor, probably
in the circuit boards.
I suggest NOT USING the monitor until you have
left it on for a few days in front of a fan,
which you would want to be blowing
air to the outside.
The monitor may have been delivered to the retailer
"half-baked", and the smell may indicate toxic or
carcinogenic organic products. Don't use it
until you can't smell it any more!
Tell the retailer. You might also send a
message to FDA about it.
