Thanks for your reply, Bob. (And thanks to all who replied!) The new monitor is a huge and heavy 19" CRT with a "flat screen." Thus, any curvature of the viewing surface is seemingly absent. We have a big desk for this monster to sit on, so space is not at a premium. The tube generates a lot of heat, so much so that the tube stinks up the large room it lies in. It's an excessive amount of the usually-pleasant electronic smell from new equipment. I'm sure it will abate in a couple of days, as the tube "burns in." Meanwhile, I will probably worry more about my electric bill than my kids' eyeballs. They sit 2 or 3 feet away. The viewing is nice, by the way. John "H. R.
