Thanks. I'm trying for an inter-library loan to look at it. There is
a second edition for November 2003 ... too new to find in the system,
I'm afraid.

I have the older one, the Practical _Field_ Surveying and
Computations, and access to the 1997 2nd edition without the "field"
in the title.

Math has changed since I went to school, and I wanted more examples in
setting up matrix algebra grids so I could be sure I understood the
process. What I did back then was almost by rote, just to get the
required answers; the equivalent of plugging numbers into a computer
today. On the other hand, I understood checking a quadrilateral with
two diagonals, and how to analyze for angular errors/blunders with the
side equations if everything didn't add up within tolerences. For me,
it was easier to understand the semi graphical methods, as that's the
way I visualize things.
