Uk Careers?????

Hi all, i have been working in construction for around five years, now
i am studying for a HNC in Building Studies, and have just started
work in the enginners dept of a major factory in South Wales. This has
got me interested in their work, laying out, levelling etc etc. I have
now started considering it as a career shift but what worries me is
the maths i have spoken to all the engineers (8) and have got all
different answers.

What maths do you need to be good at???????

I was a accounting technician so basic maths multiplication division
etc is not a problem but i know zero about algebra, calculus, geometry
etc

And would anyone know any decent maths book if it has got to be
learnt.
