If I say part of the spectrum, would that be more acceptable? If one wanted to contunue and split hairs on this, one could say that 30 points along the spectrum does not capture the spectrum or even 400 points because the spectrum is continuous. So all these methods capture parts of the spectrum with different levels of accuracy. I totally agree with your point, three points or three zones does not accurately describe the spectrum.
