Editors of the Journal of Record of Capitalism (oh, sorry Brits, no, not The Times) today considered the Kyoto Protocol (to the International Framework Convention on Climate Change) worthy of front-page news. On the other hand, to their credit, they also recently ran a front-page article publicizing the OBVIOUS contention (by French industrialists) that nuclear power may have a major effect on carbon-dioxide emissions control (if not emission-control treaties) if economic sustainability is not entirely ignored. Where the Earth's atomospheric energy balance of ambient gasses is concerned, the fuel mix of power generation facilities in Asia is really all that matters for the next few hundred years or so: the rest is just petit political posturing by populists pandering to a puerile public. -dl
