Not really - the earth's rotation is though and that did not come from 
the sun originally either. Although unless I am totally wrong, when the 
matter making up the earth was pulled in by the sun's gravitation, the 
angular momentum was conserved but some energy was transferred from 
gravitation to rotation, wasn't it?
