Re: Bury the Truth/Greed Rules

Hi, "No one";

You wrote:
And how long have we heard this? I've heard it for so long the first
thing I do when I see anything written about PV is scan for the words
'in the future' or 'in the next X numbers of years'. It started in the
60's. It wouldn't be long before PV panels would be so cheap we'd all
have them. The in the 70's it was just matter of a few years before PV
panels would produce much more power for much less money which would
free us from foreign oil. Then in the 80's, then again in the 90's and
now in 2000's.
If there is such a 'golden opportunity' to produce such wonderful low
cost power system then why has not some business man built the necessary
plants? Why does the solar crowd need the government supporting them to
get started?

I can sure understand skepticism when I hear it,
but this goes a little further, into cynicism. Surely you realize that
it took a very long time for us to actually see jet engines being sold
to the public in aircraft ? They had a lot of work to do to to make jet
engines affordable to anyone other than the government. Also,if you've
been keeping track of rocketry, you'd be aware that private interests
are getting much closer to putting men into space, and I have no doubt
that "someday" we will be mining the asteroids. Many things are
possible, but just because they take longer than your hope allows, I
don't think this is cause to develop such cynicism.

Much more speed would happen if our government got
involved like it did with the Moon project, but it hasn't, and I prefer
it this way. The U.S.gov't has invested only 1.2 bil, and the EU just
announced plans to invest 2.8 billion in hydrogen, but this is hardly an
all out Apollo program or Manhatten project.

Things are happening, and while they seem
maddenly slow, they ARE happenig. We'll get there sooner or later, as
there is really nothing impossible about the hydrogen economy, we just
have to find ways to lower costs. Patience, my man, patience. It's
either that or get your hands dirty, and put your mind to work designing
somethingnew. We could always stand a few breakthroughs.
