   Remember, much of this is based on the judgement of a physican making
the pronouncement, limited to current-day medicine. Indeed, we sometimes
tacitly give up on some people, knowing that little could be done for
them but prolong the (frequently painful) inevitable, by listing them in
hospitals as 'DNR' for Do Not Resuscitate. Naturally, of you're on a
plane that nose dives into the ground at 600 mph, you're done. But
sometimes, 'dead' is simply what we decide it to be. There's often no
magic instant, and we routienely recover people today that would've been
written off, a century ago, as in your own example below.

   Some forms of brain surgury also require greatly cooling (albeit not
feezing) a patient, and stopping heartbeat for almost an hour. They're
flatlined. Sometimes that's dead. Sometimes it's just a state medically
required to fix an aneurysm, and you can be brought back.

   Thanks, but we prefer the proper application of very low tempratures.

   It's true that restoration of an adult mammal has yet to be
demonstrated, but many single celled, and small multicelled organisms
are routienely cryopreserved (what may be the only remaining smallpox on
Earth is currently in that state, in a very few locations) and restored.
There is proven precedent. Supporting examples are harder to come by, in
your case.

  And even if your assertions about OBEs are correct, it still is
irrelevant to the question of cryopreserving one's body. (Though if you
accept such things, then successful cryonics would be the ultimate Near
Death Experience, would it not?)
