Hi folks, After nearly a decade away from lead chemistry I am returning to my roots and doing some lead(IV) chemistry. About <-that-> long ago we used to swear by Merck LTA and swear at the inferior product from Aldrich. About 2 years ago somoeone in our lab ordered a bottle of Merck LTA (CAS 546-67-8, old Merck cat number is: 8.07418), the stuff moistened with ~15% glacial acetic acid. It was/is good stuff but we are nearly out. I contacted Merck and they no longer supply it. (The salesperson actually offered me lead (II) acetate as a "replacement" (Where do they find these people?) Anyway, can anyone recommend a replacement? Something you know to be reproducibly good as per iodometric titration etc...? Any recommendations for brands to avoid as well would be appreciated. cheers, Martin _____________________________________________________ Dr. Martin Stoermer INSTITUTE FOR MOLECULAR BIOSCIENCE incorporating The Centre for Molecular and Cellular Biology The Centre for Drug Design and Development ARC Special Research Centre for Functional and Applied Genomics University of Queensland 4072 AUSTRALIA Phone: +61-7-3346 2988 Fax: +61-7-3346 2101 Email:[EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.imb.uq.edu.au _____________________________________________________ -- Paul J.
