Re: coating strength - electroplated vs. electroless



Thank you.

Not sure what I mean by strength.  We have a family of electroplating
processes we developed to braze cermets and ceramic for use as tips in
brazed tools.   There the test is bond strength greater than the
failure strength of the material.

We were told it might have applications in other areas such as
electronics.  I went on line and found a site that seems to be
presenting a tensile strength of 600 psi. as though it were
impressive.    As near as we can tell we are closer to 30,000 psi. so
I figure we are missing something.

I guess the problem is that we have been talking about surface
treating for brazing for twenty years and now we need to switch gears
and talk about electroplating.

Thanks for the book reference.  

I tried Amazon & Powell's.  Any other ideas?
