Re: Li-Ion Life

Agree with Mike, and check your insurance.
The only reason this have not blown up (yet) is the 150 ohm resistor,
limitting charging curent to ca 100mA.
Using 4 Li Ion cellgrups in series, without safety electronic are not
recomended.

Seriously, you should read up on now (not to) charge Lithium batteries.
And put on your safety glasses.

Well,I'm not too worried about it,they don't get warm when I charge them, and nothing has melted yet,soo....Granted,it might not be the best way to charge them but the cell's havn't complained yet.I've got each string of cells isolated from one another by a series diode on the + terminal,to the "output" so each string is somewhat independant, except for the (two) 150ohm current limiting resistors between the series strings. So each string of cells supplies power out though a diode, and charges through a resistor. To charge them I either connect the 4 watt solar panel for a day or two,or switch on the 12V power supply for a bit. It's been working great this way for, about 6 months now.I figured the cells were near death anyways, and just threw the pack together for some "backup" incase the power went out,I didn't figure they would last very long, but they seem to be holding up quite well, despite a bit of abuse,so all in all,I'm a happy camper!
