You could try heat treatment. This is more likely to be successful if the
fungi are sporulating. Suspend some of the fungal tissue or spores in a
sterile liquid (saline or water) and heat to around 60 degrees C for 5 -15
minutes. That will kill most bacteria and should not injure the fungal
spores too much. Cool the suspension and plate out on a suitable medium (eg
Sabouraud agar).
