        1- The scientific discipline involved is singular, being taxonomy, 
and the variation is within it.

        Well, since I'm just reading this because it happened to pop up on 
sci.bio.herp (a matter with which I believe you were involved), I haven't 
got the faintest idea what a budikka hole is.
