Dear Marc, It appears to be a dermestid beetle larva. Dermestid beetles are also known as carpet beetles. There are many species, and most feed on dead organic matter such as spider exoskeletons, pet hair, wool and cotton fibers. They go through several larval stages wandering about the house in search of food for sometimes three quarters of a year before they pupate and try to find their way back outside to find a mate.
