In article <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, [EMAIL PROTECTED] says... :) Hi, :) I just noticed little bugs in a jar of cayenne pepper today. I saw a bunch :) of tine white eggs too, and my room mate says they're maggots. How can this :) be? We haven't opened the jar for months, and isn't cayenne pepper supposed :) to deter bugs? I'm so grossed out. What if my whole pantry is infested? :) :) I am guessing they may be larvae of Indian Meal Moths. It will be a small moth and can spread to other food products made from plants. They will leave behind a cobweb where they are feeding. Look inside boxes of cereals, crackers, etc and rotate the box. The webbing will be visible with food particles attatched. If they are found for sure, removing the open products, thorough cleaning of the pantry and shelves is needed. You can find Indian MM traps that attract the adults with pheromones that will help monitor the problem. -- http://home.comcast.net/~larflu/brodf1.jpg Lar. (to e-mail, get rid of the BUGS!!
