Only a few of the 200 blue gum eucalyptus groves where monarch cluster  
sustained severe degree frost-killed leaves and branches during the December           
                    
1972 and 1990 coastal freezes. So there was not a widespread severe buildup            
                   
of fuels under these trees after the freezes.
