I have just a small experience of growing Phalaenopsis and Saintpaulia
(african violet) 5 years ago.
Buy fluorescent tubes, they are cheaper, and quite well tolerated by plants,
and furthermore produce less heat than bulbs.
The important thing is the distance between light and plant that should be
the minimum compatible with the temperature of the tube, because light
intensity decrease with the square of the distance.
I personnally have built myself the equipment, using modular element for
library furnitures. I use a small fan activated 5 minutes every 2 hours to
avoid moisture fungi.
After I get a garden and stop cultivating plants inhouse.
Good luck.
