FRIDAY, November 14 BRAS NIGHT AT HRPO...7:00 pm. Ms. Pamela Rogers of the Baton Rouge Astronomical Society will be presenting tonight's lecture on the Moon. Come to the Observatory to learn about our wonderful universe as only the Baton Rouge Astronomical Society can bring it to you. TELESCOPE VIEWING...8:00 pm - 9:00 pm. Members of the Baton Rouge Astronomical Society and LSU Astronomers support telescope viewing, weather permitting. SATURDAY, November 15 LEONID METEOR SHOWER - WHAT IS IT?...10:00 am. The Leonid Meteor Shower is next week! Come find out what a meteor shower is and what causes them. Explore what a meteorite is by looking at the meteorite collection at the Observatory. You can also participate in a cratering experiment. Afterwards we will be making a solar UV bead craft the kids can take home and use as a UV ray indicator. Class time is from 10 - 12:00 noon. Suggested age is K thru 6th grade. TUESDAY, November 18 SPECIAL EVENT...10:00 pm - 4:00 am. Come join us at the Observatory as we view the annual Leonid Meteor Shower from the Observatory grounds. Like the Lunar Eclipse Party, we will have the campfire roaring and the marshmallows cooking as we behold this spectacular event. It is supposed to be a good year for the Leonids so come on out and enjoy. NOTE: in case we are clouded out, Wednesday night November 19 will be the alternate date.
