Astrology's link to astronomy focus of Greenbush program

What's your sign?

For more than 2,000 years, some people have believed in
mystical powers of alignments of the sun, moon, planets
and stars.

At 7 p.m. Saturday at Greenbush, the community is invited
to a public program during which Dr. Charles Blatchley of
Pittsburg State University will explore the basis of
these beliefs and the history of the one of the most
important astrologers Ptolemy.

The program will be held in Abernathy Science Education
Center. After the 30-minute program, participants can go
to the nearby PSU-Greenbush Astrophysical Observatory to
view the night sky with the research-grade telescope,
weather permitting.

In the event of rain or cloud cover, the program still
will be held but viewing will not be possible.

Participants should wear clothing comfortable for outside
temperatures because the Observatory is not heated or
cooled so as not to interfere with the images seen
through the telescope. The Observatory is handicapped
accessible. There is no cost for the program.

on the campus of the Education Service Center at Greenbush,
